Marijuana prohibition may be over sooner than we think: The big medical marijuana movement is in full swing from state to state, but marijuana is still illegal at the federal level. However, according to many lawmakers, some changes may be taken place sooner than we think. The way the law reads now, marijuana is on the list of schedule 1 prohibited substances like heroin, cocaine, and crystal meth.

Now we are seeing a bipartisan movement from even the republicans like John Boehner, Jared Polis, and Earl Blumenauer who spoke on Saturday, May 12th. Blumenauer seemed to focus on taking marijuana off the DEA's list of schedule 1 prohibited drugs. Representative Blumenauer also predicted that marijuana would be descheduled within the next four years. He believes that every state will be able to treat marijuana like alcohol and have universal access to medical marijuana.

Blumenauer also made the pitch that if democrats control the House of Representatives in the next election, we will be moving forward on descheduling the ban on marijuana. We need bipartism agreement on marijuana reform and if the republicans want to keep a strong foothold on future elections, they better get on board, or their ship might start sinking. "The people have spoken."

Peace,
Bart
